† Grooved Cone (X) is predominantly used for Wire Braid (e.g. GSWB, TCWB), Steel Tape Armour (STA, DSTA) and Aluminium Strip Armour (ASA) but is also suitable for Single Wire Armour (SWA), Aluminium Wire Armour (AWA) and Pliable Wire Armour (PWA) if the range is outside that of the Stepped Cone (W).

Note: Grooved Cone (X) dimensions shown in the Cable Gland Selection Table below are for a double wire strand of braid armour cables. Tapes can also be doubled over. For cables that have only a single layer of armour such as SWA the clamping range should be used as shown in the table below.

Description

PX2KX Barrier Cable Gland

The PX2KX barrier cable gland is an explosion-proof method of terminating all types of braided and tape-armored cables. Certified by ATEX for safe glanding of cables in Class I Zone 1, 21, and Zone 2, 22, hazardous areas, it utilizes a compound barrier-type flameproof seal and controlled outer load-retention seal.

This cable gland is manufactured to meet a wide array of standards, specifications, and codes. Examples include:

PX2KX cable glands feature metal-to-metal armor clamping mechanisms and robust sealing systems. Once a cable’s inner sheath or bedding has been removed, a RapidEx liquid resin barrier seals directly around the internal cable cores. As a result, the risk of coldflow on all cable types is eliminated. Other features include:

    This cable gland is suitable for operating environments of -60 degrees Celsius, or -76 degrees Fahrenheit, to +85 degrees Celsius, or +185 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s ideal for use in applications across many industries.
