Hazardous Area Zone Classification

What do the Hazardous Area Classification zones mean?

The purpose of a hazardous area zone classification is to identity sources of release of flammable gas, vapor, or dust to ensure employee awareness of the work environment and operating conditions to avoid catastrophic events, such as, fires and explosions that may arise from daily operations or because of some unexpected event.

Hazardous areas are classified into zones based on an assessment of the frequency of the occurrence and duration of an explosive gas atmosphere, as shown in the illustration below.

Click on the zone to learn more about the classification according to IEC 60079-10 standards.

*unless risk assessment states a higher or lower category is required

Do you recognize the need for explosion protection?

EUTEX can create hazardous area classifications to ensure they represent the actual risk presented in your workplace and with this ensure safety for all staff during operations in potentially explosive atmospheres
