Our supply capability extends beyond hazardous area product. We hold NEC and IEC compliant cable systems, glands, and enclosures in Houston and operate a strong supply chain across the USA and internationally – covering the broader critical infrastructure electrical product range. Engineers who confirm the right specification before anything ships. The product, the compliance documentation, and the answer. Fast.

Compliance without the wait.

NEK 606.
The industry standard offshore cable.

NEK 606 is the industry standard offshore cable specification used across offshore oil and gas, LNG, and marine installations. The range includes power, control, and instrumentation cables designed for harsh offshore environments and commonly specified by EPC contractors, OEMs, and system integrators.

Key NEK 606 cables are stocked in Houston for fast delivery across the Gulf Coast and wider US market. Engineers on hand to confirm the right specification before anything ships.

NEC or IEC
We cover both.

We can confirm compliance against NEC Class/Division requirements and IEC Zone requirements, advise on equivalence where standards overlap, and supply products with the correct certification documentation for your jurisdiction.

NEC (Class/Division)

Applies to US-based hazardous locations under NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code). Articles 500-516. Class I, II, III. Division 1 and 2.

IEC 60079 (Zone)

International standard for explosive atmospheres. Zone 0, 1, 2 (gas) and Zone 20, 21, 22 (dust). ATEX and IECEx certification frameworks.

Frequently
asked

Common questions about hazardous area specification.

NEK 606 is a Norwegian standard (Norsk Elektroteknisk Komite) specifying power, control, and instrumentation cables for offshore oil and gas, LNG, and marine installations. It defines requirements for fire performance, oil and mud resistance, halogen-free construction, and marking. NEK 606 cables are widely specified on North Sea and international offshore projects, and increasingly used in US and Gulf of Mexico applications where international standards are adopted.

ATEX (Atmospheres Explosibles) is the European Union certification framework for equipment used in explosive atmospheres, governed by EU Directive 2014/34/EU. IECEx is the international certification scheme administered by the IEC, recognized across more than 50 countries. While both systems are based on similar technical standards (IEC 60079 series), certification is issued separately under each framework. Equipment may carry both ATEX and IECEx certification where required. EUTEX can advise on which certification framework applies to your project jurisdiction and contractual requirements.

Yes. EUTEX holds stock and capabilities across both standards systems. We supply products certified to NEC Class/Division requirements for US-based projects operating under NFPA 70, and products certified to IEC 60079 series standards for international, offshore, and Zone-classified installations. Where a project requires dual certification or cross-jurisdictional compliance, our engineers can confirm the correct product specification.

EUTEX International supplies NEC and IEC compliant cable systems, cable glands, enclosures, and hazardous area products from Houston, Texas. Products include NEK 606 offshore cables, MC-HL cables, Type P instrumentation cables, SWA onshore cables, hazardous area cable glands, and electrical enclosures. Houston stock enables fast delivery across the Gulf Coast and wider US market.
